Vibrant Celebrations Mark the Ward Feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Padu

The members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Ward, Padu, celebrated their annual ward feast with immense joy, devotion, and community spirit. The celebrations began with a solemn Thanksgiving Holy Mass in the morning, during which ward members actively participated in the liturgy. They reverently carried the statue of the Blessed Mother to the altar and offered roses and offertory gifts as a sign of their love and devotion.

The festivities continued at 3:00 p.m. with a ward gathering at the residence of Mr. John Baptist. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Rosary in honour of Mother Mary, along with special prayers for timely rains. This was followed by an engaging quiz conducted by Mr. Fedrick D’Silva and fun-filled games organized by Mr. Melwyn and Ms. Jonita.

The formal stage programme began at 4:00 p.m. with the traditional lighting of the lamp. The dignitaries present included Parish Priest Rev. Fr. William Menezes, Resident Priest Rev. Fr. Rahul Dexter D’Souza, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Mr. Arthur D’Souza, Commissions Coordinator Mr. Elroy Saldanha, and Small Christians Community Convenor Mr. Dexter Saldanha. They were warmly welcomed with roses before the gathering was treated to beautiful singing and dance performances by the ward members.

A major highlight of the evening, compered by Mr. Fedrick D’Silva, was the felicitation of Rev. Fr. William Menezes on the occasion of his Ruby Jubilee of Priesthood. The programme featured a special poem highlighting his priestly ministry and contributions, recited by Mr. J. B. Sequeira. Special gifts were also distributed to the ward’s children in observance of the ‘Year of Children’, while prizes were awarded to the winners of the games and competitions.

The celebration concluded with refreshments and inspiring messages from the clergy. Rev. Fr. William Menezes commended the small ward for its remarkable enthusiasm, unity, and active participation. Rev. Fr. Rahul Dexter D’Souza beautifully remarked that just as a small key is essential to open a door, a small ward is vital in building a strong Small Christian Community.

The feast celebration stood as a wonderful testimony to faith, fellowship, and the vibrant spirit of the ward community.
