Omzoor Parish Bids Touching Farewell to Resident Priest Fr. Victor D’Souza

On Sunday, May 31, 2026, the parishioners of Holy Family Church, Omzoor, gathered in large numbers to bid a warm and emotional farewell to their Resident Priest, Rev. Fr. Victor Dsouza, following his one-year tenure. The day held a dual significance for the parish community, as the farewell coincided with the celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The solemn Sunday Mass was celebrated by the main celebrant, Fr. Victor Dsouza, with Fr. Charles Pereira serving as the co-celebrant.

During his homily, Fr. Victor delivered an inspiring message focused heavily on the mystery of the Divine. He stressed that “Trinity is unity, and unity is Trinity,” explaining that the Holy Trinity serves as the ultimate model for individual lives, families, and society at large. He urged the congregation to continually work and pray for fostering deep-rooted unity both within their homes and the wider church community, mirroring the oneness of the Triune God.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. William Menezes initiated the ceremony with a brief, warm introduction, highlighting Fr. Victor’s impactful presence in the parish. As a token of deep appreciation and gratitude for his selfless ministry, Fr. William, along with the Vice President – Mr. Arthur Dsouza, Secretary – Mrs. Dafny Lewis, and Ayog Coordinator – Mr. Elroy Saldhana, honored Fr. Victor on behalf of the entire parish family. The event also featured a heartwarming prize distribution ceremony where Fr. Victor handed out rewards to 15 parish children who had faithfully attended daily morning Mass throughout their summer vacation, a gesture warmly introduced by Fr. William.

In his emotional farewell address, Fr. Victor Dsouza expressed his immense gratitude to the Almighty for His blessings and guidance. He extended heartfelt thanks to Fr. William for his constant support, and to the Convent Sisters for their seamless cooperation and encouragement. He further acknowledged the vital roles played by the Vice President, Secretary, AYOG Coordinator, SCC Coordinator, Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and Finance Committee members, Gurkars, various church associations, and the general body of parishioners. He also shared special words of appreciation for the dedicated service of the office clerk and church helpers. Reflecting on his time in the parish, Fr. Victor remarked that although his stay was short, it was filled with sweet memories, valuable experiences, and unforgettable moments. He requested everyone to keep him in their prayers as he prepares to take charge of his new pastoral assignment at Urwa on June 9th.
