An Evening of Grace (ಕುರ್ಪೆಚಿ ಸಾಂಜ್): A Time of Prayer, Adoration and Blessing
An evening of prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal was experienced through “An Evening of Grace,” an adoration programme held on 12 September 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church, Omzoor. The programme was led by Rev. Fr. Rahul Dexter D’Souza, Resident Priest.
The programme unfolded through a meaningful combination of hymns, a spiritual sermon, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Eucharistic Adoration, creating an atmosphere of prayer and contemplation. Fr. Rahul sang hymns in praise of the Lord assisted by the Melodious Choir, adding a joyful and prayerful dimension to the gathering.
In his sermon, Fr. Rahul reflected on the importance of family, responsible parenting and maintaining unity within the family and parish community. He cautioned against becoming like a “worm” within the family, ward or parish — someone whose actions weaken relationships, create divisions and gradually damage the unity of the community. He encouraged everyone to become instruments of love, peace and unity rather than sources of division.
Fr. Rahul also urged the faithful to surrender their problems, worries and themselves completely to Jesus, reminding them of the importance of trusting in the Lord even in difficult situations. He encouraged the congregation to place their faith in Jesus and allow Him to guide their lives.
During the prayer service, Fr. Rahul invited the children, youth and then the rest of the devotees to come forward near the altar. He prayed over them and blessed them with holy water, offering a moment of personal prayer and blessing for the faithful.
This was followed by a special prayer invoking the Holy Spirit. Fr. Rahul, together with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. William Menezes, prayed for the congregation and anointed the foreheads of those present with blessed oil as a sign of prayer, blessing and consecration to God. The faithful participated prayerfully in this solemn moment, seeking the guidance and strength of the Holy Spirit.
The programme then proceeded to Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, during which the congregation gathered in reverence and prayer before Jesus in the Eucharist.
The evening concluded on a joyful and hopeful note with the congregation singing the hymn “Let’s Sing a New Hymn for the Lord (ನವೆಂ ಗಾಯನ್ ಸರ್ವೆಸ್ಪರಾಕ್ ಉರ್ಭೆನ್ ಗಾವ್ಯಾಂ)” bringing the prayerful gathering to a fitting close.
‘An Evening of Grace (ಕುರ್ಪೆಚಿ ಸಾಂಜ್)’ became a meaningful opportunity for the faithful to pause from the concerns of daily life, surrender themselves to Jesus, seek His blessing and renew their commitment to faith, family and community.
