Holy Family Church, Omzoor, joyfully marked a significant moment in its parish life with the inauguration of the Pastoral Commissions on Sunday, 25th January 2026. The occasion reflected the parish’s renewed commitment to strengthen pastoral ministry and encourage greater involvement of the faithful in building a lively and caring Christian community.
The day began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, offered with special prayers for the newly formed commissions and their members. A meaningful and touching ritual during the Mass captured the spirit of the occasion. The coordinators of the various commissions processed forward carrying leaflets bearing the names of their respective commissions. These were then placed on a specially prepared tree, symbolising that though the commissions serve in different ways, they grow together from one root and work in unity to nurture the parish community.
Following the Mass, an enrichment programme was held in the church hall for the members of the Parish Pastoral Council and all commission members. The session was guided by the resource person, Rev. Fr. Naveen Pinto, Director of Pastoral Commissions, Mangalore Diocese.
In his inspiring and insightful talk, Fr. Naveen Pinto explained the meaning of a Pastoral Parish, the role of Pastoral Commissions, and the way these commissions function in the life of the Church. He highlighted the importance of shared responsibility, teamwork and coordinated efforts in responding effectively to the needs of the parish. His words helped the members gain a clear understanding of their mission and encouraged them to plan and carry out pastoral programmes with dedication and purpose.
The participants listened with keen interest and took part with great enthusiasm. The session proved to be both enriching and motivating, equipping the members with valuable guidance to serve the parish more meaningfully through their respective commissions.
The inauguration and enrichment programme concluded on a joyful and hopeful note, leaving everyone inspired to work together in faith, unity and service for the growth of Holy Family Church and the strengthening of the Christian community.
